Yay! Finally! Hey Melody, did I tell you that Im in Florida helping my Daughter in law out while my son is in Afghanisat. She is going to school so I get to be a Granny Nanny. The only bad thing is, I miss my Gunner. He is staying home with dad. We do skype every night, so at least I get to see him and have him hear my voice. I sure hope he doesnt forget me. I will come home the end of March. Do I miss the hubby, sure, but I really really really miss my dane! :)

Hi Melody, currently I am not a great dane owner but I have wanted one since I was very little. I have a dalmatian right now who is very old and would leave me if I brought a new puppy in to the house. Also, she is very particular about dogs she will befriend so needless to say we are waiting to get a Great Dane, although I can't wait very much longer!!!! Any way happy to be following and learning as much as I can about the breed!

Hi guys. Sorry it took me so long to get this going. Thinking of starting a mailing list also.

Glad to hear Gracie is doing better. What seemed to be the problem?

When I go to visit Arlene in Atlanta even though she has almost as many dogs as we do I still miss my dogs worse than the husband. LOL

We have always found that a new puppy breaths new life into an old dog no matter what it's temperament is. Also the older dog helps train the new one.

I think that it was her food. I also think that we were letting it soak too much before giving it to her... We have changed her food and let it be a little harder before giving it to her, which makes her eat more. She is still a nibbler though ... can't get that girl to eat. She is also a little underweight and small for her age, which was expected. But I love her small size. Still cuddly in my lap.

sswalls11- If you are looking to get a dane, you should get one from Melody. I highly recommend her. My husband and I have decided that we will stick with danes forever and I couldn't think of getting them from anyone else!

We have 2 adults females we want to place. One is 4 1/2 and the other is 2 1/2. Reason for this is they do not get along with the other girls. Only thing I ask is for the new parents to pay to have them spayed by my vet before they pick them up. Email me privately at icspots@littlehorsedanes.com for more information.

I figured it was the food.

Started another site for Great Dane lovers. Check out http://4loveofdanes.ning.com I think this will be more user friendly. What do I know this is my first two trips into social networking

Finally into the world of blogging and it took the Danes and Melody to get me into it, how 'bout that?

A little late but You CAN get a lowrider Dane, our female is 30" and about 100lbs. She's a petite little lady. Our 5 month old little boy is gonna be HUGE though. He has almost caught up to her.

Melody Rainwater said...

Our Danny Boy was tiny. At 6 weeks he only weighted in at 3 pounds. He was the runt of a huge litter. However he will probably live a very long time and has always been healthy. He throws normal sized puppies with his beautiful head. Bigger isn't necessarily always better. :-)
